Sunday sees Parma bid farewell to Serie A and possibly the world of football all together, as still no buyers have come forward to save the doomed club, with the final auction less than a week away, the price now sits at 6.7 million euros.
Despite all the doom and gloom, expect a colourful packed out Stadio Ennio Tardini, as ‘The Boys’ campaign for all those who have supported the club over the years to come out one last time to watch the city’s beloved football team. Parma will be looking to put on a show for the loyal fans that have stood by them throughout this nightmare season. Roberto Donadoni’s men will need to be much improved from their last outing as Fiorentina gave them a going over in a convincing 3-0 defeat. Sunday will be the last chance for many of these Parma players to put themselves in the shop window ahead of this summer transfer window, with star goalkeeper Antonio Mirante, and young Jose Mauri already catching the eye of both Milan clubs. As for Verona, they sit in a solid 12th place in Serie A, the evergreen Luca Toni will be looking to add to his 19 goals already this season and heap more misery on Parma. The 37 year old has put in yet another outstanding campaign and finds himself just one goal shy of Carlos Tevez, Toni will be determined to find the back of the net in his hunt to bag the capoconnoniere. This fixture sees the worst and third worst defences come up against each other, so if Parma can find their shooting boots and Luca Toni continues his good form we could be in for a goal fest at the Tardini. Neither Roberto Donadoni nor Alberto Mandorlini have any new injury concerns going into this final fixture of the season, and will have full squads to choose from. The last time these sides met at the Bentegodi back in January the hosts ran out comfortable 3-1 winners thanks to goals from Jacopo Sala, Luca Toni and Mattia Valoti. With the future of this famous club still very much uncertain, It’s going to be an emotional afternoon in Parma, with plenty of tears and goodbyes as many players and fans part ways having stood side by side making it to the end of this emotionally charged season. #SaveParma Probable Line Up’s Parma: Mirante, Cassani, Mendes, Feddal, Gobbi, Varela, J. Mauri, Jorquera, Nocerino, Ghezzal, Palladino. Verona: Rafael, Sala, Marquez, Moras, E. Pisano, Obbadi, Tachtsidis, Hallfredsson, Jankovic, Toni, Fernandinho. By Giovanni Dougall @giovannid86

Roberto Donadoni’s men travel to Tuscany on Monday night hoping to bring their stay in Serie A to memorable end with their remaining two fixtures. It’s been a chaotic campaign for The Ducali with relegation already confirmed, the Emiliani have far from given up though and have picked up some impressive results over recent weeks including last week’s fiery 2-2 draw with Rafa Benitez’ Napoli, a game Parma feel they could have one. As for the hosts, Vincenzo Montella will be looking for a positive reaction after La Viola’s humiliating Europa League lesson handed to them by Sevilla. Fiorentina have managed to steady the ship after falling at an alarming rate, they have managed to secure back to back victories in the last two rounds, however with Sampdoria, Inter & Genoa all hot on the heels of Fiorentina, Montella’s men will have to secure victory if they want to be playing European football again next season. Fiorentina will have to be aware that Parma will be out to enjoy themselves as they go into the last two games of their Serie A lives and with the clubs future very much uncertain many players will be looking to put themselves in the shop window for next season. With goals hard to come by this season Donadoni will be looking to Antonio Mirante to continue his recent good form in goal for the visitors. Parma will be without the suspended Andi Lila. The under fire Montella has no new suspension issues however he will have to do without the trio of Juan Vargas, Khouma Babacar and Micah Richards all of whom miss out through injury. The last time these two sides met Parma recorded one of their six victories this season thanks to an Andrea Costa second half strike, giving the host all three points at The Tardini, another defeat here against already relegated Parma would surly see the end of Montella. Probable Line Up’s Fiorentina: Neto, Tomovic, Savic, Basanta, Alonso, Borja Valero, Badelj, Aquilani, Benrardeschi, Ilicic, Gomez. Parma: Mirante, Costa, Mendes, Feddal, Gobbi, Varela, J. Mauri, Jorquera, Nocerino, Ghezzal, Palladino. By Giovanni Dougall @giovannid86 Parma’s fate was sealed last Wednesday night, with Roberto Donadoni admitting his side were “Steamrollered” and “Outclassed” as Stefano Pioli’s impressive Lazio crushed The Ducali 4-0. As Parma were being taught a mid-week footballing lesson in Rome, The Sardinians went down 1-0 at the Betegodi at the hands of Chievo who sealed their Serie A status for another year. Cagliari now sit nine points off safety so three point is a must tonight for I Rossoblu. Gianluca Festa’s side will be desperately aiming to get three points on the board when they face Parma in tonight’s round 34 clash or they too could be heading the same way as the the Emiliani and out of Italy’s top flight. .Parma can go into this under no pressure and will be hoping to get back to the impressive performances they put in before being stopped in their tracks at Lazio. Roberto Donadoni will be without goalkeeper Antonio Mirante and Algerian forward Ishak Belfodil, both missing out through suspension, with Belfodil missing out and goals hard to come by this season, Donadoni will hand young forward Massimo Coda his chance to impress. As for Cagliari, Gianluca Festa will be unable to call upon Andrea Cossu and defender Nicola Murru, both sitting this one out due to suspension. Festa will have on lone top scorer Diego Farias in his ranks and will be hoping the Argentine winger can give Cagliari a glimmer of hope going into the last few weeks of the season. The last time these sides met back in December it was a 0-0 stalemate at the Tardini, don’t be surprised if it’s the same outcome tonight as both sides have really struggled in front of goal this season hence the poor league positions of both teams. Probable Line – ups Caglairi – Brkic, Pisano, Ceppitteli, Diakite, Avelar, Dessena, Ekdal, Joao Pedro, M’Poku, Cop, Ferias. Parma – Iacobucci, Lucarelli, Costa, Feddal, Cassani, Lila, Jorquera, Nocerino, Varela, Coda, Ghezzal. By Giovanni Dougall @giovannid86 |
