Club captain Alessandro Lucarelli has this afternoon confirmed to reporters that Parma will not travel to Genoa on Sunday. Speaking outside the clubs Collecchio training ground Lucarelli said “We have decided not to play at Genoa, and requested that the match is postponed” This is the second match in a row Parma have had to postpone due to this financial meltdown the club is in.
With staff and players going all season without being paid, it would appear they are starting to lose patience with new president Giampiero Manenti, who at the moment is all talk and no action, it is thought he will be given one more week to prove he can point Parma in the right direction, as the head of the players union Damiano Tommasi confirmed earlier today “The Parma players have decided to wait another week to see what Manenti can do to move forward” Yesterday president Manenti insisted the game would go ahead, but with the players having no transport to the game, no wages all season, this week saw the laundry room close forcing the players to take their kits home to wash, today there were also sad images coming out of Collecchio as the last of the locker room was cleared out as bailiffs could be seen carrying the last of lockers and benches out of the training base. Parma will meet with the Lega on the 6th March to try and sort this mess out and bring some hope to the people connected to Parma. It’s still unclear if the Ducali will be able to complete the Serie A season, failure to do so would see their opposition each week handed a 3-0 win. An announcement is expected today as to whether Genoa will be handed a 3-0 win or the game can be replayed. @giovannid86

Its game on as it stands as Parma prepares to travel to Genoa, but with the Ducali’s current financial mess you just don’t know what could be round the corner. Last week’s visit of Udinese was postponed with Parma unable to pay for stewarding to host the event, meaning Roberto Donadoni’s men haven’t played since their impressive point they eared against Rudi Garcia’s Roma in week 23, a performance they will be hoping to build on going in to this fixture. This week’s preparations have been anything but smooth over at Collecchio with Parma hitting the headlines for all the wrong reasons yet again. Club captain Alessandro Lucarelli confirming the players will make their own way to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Sunday, be it in the own cars or by funding their own bus. Lucarelli also admitting this week that the clubs laundry room has now closed down meaning the players have to take their own kits home to wash adding to the fact the club now no longer has it’s gym scuppering preparations even more. As for the Grifone, they are still hunting down a Europa League spot, Genoa are coming into this game without defeat in the last four rounds. Gian Piero Gasperini’s side will be in confident mood after their draw in the Derby della Lanterna during the week, his side are also unbeaten in the last six meetings with Parma, with home advantage on their side they will be hoping to heap more misery on this struggling Parma side. Despite this, Gasperini’s men should be aware of a Parma side out to prove a point, with passions running high in the camp, this could prove to be a potentially tricky tie for Genoa. Earlier in the season Genoa came away from the Tardini with a 2-1 win thanks to an Alessandro Matri goal in the third minute of added time. As sign of solidarity will be shown towards Parma in this weekends round of games, every Serie A fixture will start 15 minutes later than normal to show support to everyone affected by the financial mess at the club. Form Guide: Genoa: (D-L-D-W-W-D) Parma: (L-L-L-L-L-D) Expected Starting Line Up’s Genoa: Perin, Roncaglia, Burdisso, De Maio, Rincon, Kucka, Bertolacci, Edenilson, Falque, Perotti, Niang Parma: Mirante, Cassani, Costa, Lucarelli, Gobbi, Mauri, Mariga, Nocerino, Varela, Rodriguez, Belfodil @giovannid86 Club captain Alessandro Lucarelli has been very vocal once again today, this time hitting out at the lack of support given to him and his teammates by fellow professionals in the current financial mess at Parma. 37 year old Lucarelli told Tele Radio Stereo “The only colleague who called me was Morgan De Sanchtis to ask what was happening with our situation and express solidarity. In fact, another did call me but the only person who showed up was Morgan” Lucarelli who has been the key spokesperson for the club and players over the past few weeks also went on to thank Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero today, Ferrero had expressed his sadness at the situation at Parma and had offered to pay for the youth teams trip to Genoa this weekend. Lucarelli tweeted Fererro earlier today, in a tweet that read… “I wasn’t to thank the president on behalf of the team for the kind words expressed to us” The club captain also confirmed today that the players will make their own way to Genoa on Sunday in their own cars despite offers of help… “We thank Genoa for offering us to fund our away game with them, but we’ll do by ourselves, we don’t want to beg money” The signs of solidarity shown in Italy in light of Parma’s problems have been quite incredible from Inter Milan offering Hernan Crespo’s youth team a spare team coach, to Genoa offering to pay for the trip on Sunday, you wonder if you’d see this in any other league in the world. Alessandro Lucarelli has conducted himself superbly throughout this whole ordeal, speaking for not only the players but for the familys of staff who haven’t been payed since July 2014, we stand behind you Alessandro and hope we can pull through this together.
