Name: Bertrand Yves Baraye
D.O.B: 21 June 1992 Age: 23 Place of Birth: Dakar, Senegal Height: 1.77m (5ft 9.5") Position: Attacking Midfielder / Forward Previous Clubs: Marseille, Udinese, Lumezzane, Juve Stabia, Torres. Date Joined Parma: September 2015 Yves Baraye has been one of the brightest sparks so far in Parma Calcio 1913's debut season. The young Senegalese forward burst onto the scene in match day three, Baraye would take just two minutes to open his Parma account as he began the 5-0 demolition of Fortis Juventus as well as finish it with goal just after the hour mark to wrap up a memorable debut. Baraye began his football career as an eight year old when he was snapped up by Marseille, he would spend nine years with the French outfit before finding his way to Italy in 2009. The promising 17 year old would end up in Udine, where he spent two years in the Udinese youth system. Since his stint with the Serie A outfit Baraye has found himself at three different clubs in four years, plying his trade in Italy's lower divisions most notably with Lumezzane where he racked up over 60 appearances in two years, followed by brief spells at Juve Stabia and Torres respectively, it looks like Baraye has now finally found a home at the Tardini with the Parma faithful instantly taking their new goal machine to their hearts. So far this season Baraye has found the net eight times, helping fire Parma six points clear at the top of the table. Playing through the middle of a front three or supporting the main striker in a 4-2-3-1 formation, Baraye's highlight so far this season is undoubtedly the spectacular match day six hat trick at the Tardini in front of his adoring fans, Baraye showed all his attributes, opening the scoring on the 20 minute mark showing his natural finishing ability as he calmly slid the ball past the on rushing goalkeeper. His second was an early goal of the season contender as his 25 yard thunder bolt flew into the top corner a goal well worthy of Serie A, his power and strength were key to the third as he ran the visitors ragged. Luigi Apolloni and the Parma faithful with hope the powerful young forward can keep up his impressive start to life in Parma going into the new year as l'gialloblu look to extend their lead at the top and keep up their impressive unbeaten league form. Parma remain top of the table going into this latest round of fixtures, last weekends narrow 1-0 victory over Romagna Centro saw the Ducali begin to pull away from the chasing pack. Yves Baraye's second half strike saw Parma open up a five point gap at the top of the table, Luigi Apolloni will be hoping his side can stretch the gap at the top even further when his side travel to Castelfranco on Sunday afternoon.
Parma go into this red hot favourites yet again, having conceded just twice this season and yet to taste defeat in the league, Apolloni will be confident his side can come away with all three points. Luigi Apolloni spent Thursday afternoon casting his watchful eye over his players as Parma ran out 7-1 winners over local side US Arsenal Parma, leaving the boss with some difficult decisions to make before Sunday. Parma's hosts on Sunday sit comfortably in eight position, Marcello Chezzi will be hoping his side can be the first to take all three points off Parma this season. Chezzi's men will be high in confidence, last weekends 2-1 victory away at struggling Mezzolara sees Castelfranco stretch there unbeaten run to five, picking up three wins and two draws. Once again the Parma faithful will travel in there numbers taking over the tiny Stadio Fausto Ferrarini, turning it into a sea of yellow and blue making this feel more like a home game for the visitors as they look to witness yet another Parma victory. If Chezzi's side are to get anything out of this game they are going to have to find away to stop Parma's Senegalese goal machine Yves Baraye, the 22 year old is on blistering form this season, scoring six times in four matches, the young striker who has taken to Parma like a duck to water will be determined to add to his already impressive tally this season. If the hosts do manage to keep Baraye at bay the still have the mammoth task of finding a way through the best defence in the league, led by Mr Parma himself, Alessandro Lucarelli, they have been solid with young Latvian goalkeeper Kristaps Zommers impressing behind the veteran Lucarelli. Apolloni is expected to go into this relatively unchanged from last weeks outing, with Yves Baraye leading the line in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Christian Longobardi, Fabio Lauria supporting along with either Mussa Balla Sowe or Matteo Guazzo making up the three behind Baraye, the team will of course be lead from the back by inspirational skipper Alessandro Lucarelli. Parma Probable XI - Zommers, Messina, Saporetti, Corapi, Cacioli, Lucarelli, Lauria, Giorgino, Longobardi, Baraye, Sowe. By Giovanni Dougall Follow me @giovannid86 |
