Parma will be glad to be back playing football this weekend, after their waterpark experience last weekend at the rain soaked Tardini.
Roberto D’Aversa saw his side taste defeat for the first time this season, at the hands of Brescia, in what was a farcical game given the atrocious weather conditions in Parma last Sunday. The Ducali visit Umbria this weekend to take on undefeated Perugia who are sitting pretty in second spot while Parma have dropped to sixth after last week’s defeat. Parma’s trip to the Stadio Renato Curi is bound to be their toughest test yet since returning to Serie B, despite last weeks draw at Cittadella, Il Grifone have thumped Virtus Entella 5-1 and Pescara 4-2. This round four clash will put the best attack in the league up against the second best defence. Despite Parma’s sound defence it’s at the other end of the pitch that is causing concern, having found the back of the net just twice, D’Aversa will put his faith once again in 35 year old forward Emanuele Calaio to lead the line on Saturday with Yves Baraye and either Roberto Insigne or Maunel Nocciolini playing off him in a 4-3-3 formation. Parma will have to do without the injured Lorenzo Saporetti for this one while Manuel Scavone is suspended, new signing Fabio Ceravolo is still trying to reach full fitness. As for the hosts, they are having no such problems finding the net, having scored 10 already this campaign. Parma will have to keep an eye out for one of their own on Saturday as former player and son of Parma, Alberto Cerri is expected to start after his goal last weekend, along side Cerri, the surprise of the season, North Korean forward Han- Kwang-Song, will pose a dangerous threat with his confidence sky high having found the net four times already. The free scoring Grifone are expected to stick with their entertaining 4-3-3 which at times turns into a 2-5-3 as they look to go and outscore their opposition at every opportunity. The last time these two met in the league was way back in 2004, where the sides played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in Serie A, Dario Hubner gave the home team an early lead before a quick fire double by Alberto Gilardino and Domenico Morfeo put Parma in front only for Ze Maria to rescue a point for Perugia at the end. With their fine form and goals galore attitude, Perugia will be the favourites for this game, however Parma will be given chances on Saurday so Roberto D’Aversa will be hoping his players find their shooting boots at they look to get back to winning ways.
